I had a check engine light on and a code which stated this sensor had low input. After determining the wiring was not at fault, I replaced the sensor with this part. Its been about a month now, and the code/light have not come back. This part can be tricky to replace since it is located on the sending unit on top of the gas tank. You may need to lower the tank to gain access to this sensor.

Ordering parts online was great, however, I also purchased an air pump for the same vehicle, I was told it was at two different locations besides the fuel pressure sensor. I drive to the two locations, which neither had the part in stock; I asked the last location to look where I could pick up the part in San Antonio and the counterman could not locate the part. I later had a notification online to credit me the amount of the part; that was fine, however I drove to two different sides of town, waste of time and fuel. I bought the air pump at AutoZone; please convince me you are the guys to buy from.....

Once the fuel pump is accessible, change out is simple and easy. Cured the P0452 error code immediately. This item is an exact replic of the original sensor. Highly recommend it if you can get to the fuel pump.

Replacing this sensor stopped my MIL from coming on. It's hard to believe the old one failed since it came on the new fuel pump that I replaced only a couple years ago. The codes I was getting before I replaced it were 0452 and 0448.

Comments about BWD Fuel Vapor/Vent Pressure Sensor:

You are suppose to drop the fuel tank to remove and replace this item. But you can cut a hole in your truck bed (2.5 in x 5.0 in) THEN COVER THE HOLE WITH A FORMED PEICE OF ALUMINUM. TO REACH THE FUEL TANK PRESSER SENSOR. MEASURE FROM UNDER THE BED ,FROM THE FRONT ABOUT 9 IN AND FROM THE SIDE ABOUT 21 INCH IN. DRILL A 3/8 INCH HOLE AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE MEASUREMENT . THEN IF YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH,LAY OUT YOUR CUT OUT DIMENSIION. I USED A JIG SAW TO CUT THE OPENING. BE CARIFUL WHEN PULLING OUT THE SENSOR, YOU CAN BREAK OFF THE TIP OF IT ,IF YOU DO DON'T WORRY JUST PUSH IT IN AND REPLACE THE NEW SENSOR.

            A:

This BWD Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor - Part No. EC2501 is located on top of the fuel tank on your 1998 Buick LeSabre and the code P1441 show up Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System flow during non-purge. Repairing this electrical malfunction, checks the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor at ambient pressure. Then checks for a stuck open EVAP purge valve and verifies that the fuel tank pressure sensor accurately reacts to EVAP system pressure changes. If the EVAP purge and engine vacuum lines are switched at the EVAP purge solenoid, the solenoid valve will leak vacuum. The PCM will command the EVAP purge and EVAP canister vent valves closed with the scan tool Seal System EVAP output control function activated. Fuel tank pressure should not decrease under this condition. My engine light is always on. The code from my mechanic is "vapor leak". We have done the smoke pressure test and evidently the leak is minute and doesn't show up, but the engine light continues to be on. I replaced the gas cap, so have a tight fit. Could the problem be in the Fuel Vapor Sensor?

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Yes, it could be the sensor, but it would be much better to have the system diagnosed correctly. That needs to be done with a class 2 scan tool like the dealers use. A regular code reader can't do the job as the system needs to be function tested for correct voltage signal. Reference voltage for that sensor is only 5 volts and it the test shows that amount, then the sensor and circuit and module are ok.There could also be a problem with the TPS, manifold absolute pressure sensor, the A.C. refrigerant pressure sensor, connectors and wiring harnesses. You may save a lot of money by having it diagnosed properly by a professional with the proper equipment.
