The Vehicle Speed Sensor may be the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

Is a speed sensor and wheel sensor the same part? I am looking for the part that attaches to the wheel hub that talks to the automatic transmission computer. I believe it also works with abs brakes.

    • Q:

Where is this sensor located? What problems it creates if it goes bad? Can it make the auto transmission shift to the next gear at high RPM? Also, can it give "Service Traction Control" warning?
Asked on 11/10/2010 by Pontiac guy from VA

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

For the location, please provide the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle. This sensor going bad can cause shifting issues in a transmission that could vary. The issue with the "Service Traction Control" warning could be caused by this sensor as well or possibly the wheel speed sensors if your vehicle has ABS.
