The crankshaft sensor may be the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Depending on what car you have, the crank angle sensor is normally located behind your harmonic balancer, or somewhere close to the crank. To remove the harmonic balancer you'll first need to remove the drive belt then remove the bolts holding on the harmonic balancer. It won't usually come off easily so it'll need some persuasion with a few light taps from a hammer, or in severe cases a bearing puller. Once the balancer is removed access to the crank angle sensor is very easy. All you need to do is interchange the busted sensor for a new one.

      • Q:

I have a 1995 88 Royale Oldsmobile.. I've replaced the fuel pump thinking that was the cause of my car having a very hard time starting and then dying out on me while driving, but lo and behold that wasn't the problem :'( I've taken the car to be diagnosed but was told the car was too old, it won't register on their machines.. So, I'm trouble shooting the problems.. Could the problem be in the crankshaft sensor or the coil pack?

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

When vehicle does not start, it will crank over fine, but will not fire. Waiting for 15 to 90 minutes (sometimes as long as three hours) will produce a start. The problem may be the “camshaft position sensor”, or possibly the “Camshaft position magnets” or even the “crankshaft position sensor” or it might be the O2 sensor. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
