Oil pan gaskets on the 3.8L are notorious for developing slow leaks. On an H body large sedan, they are easy to replace. on a W body mid-size sedan, it's easier just to let it leak. I replaced the gasket and the leak was gone. I'm not sure what more you could ask from a gasket, but the gentleman above me seems to be perturbed that his oil pan gasket didn't improve his cars performance. Considering that an oil pan gasket makes no claims about improving performance, I don't know how this constitutes a con, but I digress. It works and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
