Dorman Ignition Lock Cylinders are part of the Ignition Lock Assembly. The purpose of the Ignition Lock Cylinder is to provide a level of security that requires a coded metal Ignition Key in order for the vehicle Ignition Switch to be operated and energized, thereby allowing the vehicle to be started and operated. Failure is due to wear and tear from continual key rotation.

Buying this kit allowed me to use the enclosed tumblers to re-key the cylinder to match original vehicle keys. Product came without any instructions at all! I was able to find an on line video that gave me the info needed to reset the cylinder.

Awesome! 1/2 the cost of the dealer and it is identical to what the dealer has minus the MOPAR box. Made by Dorman which is who most likely made the original.
Easy to rekey with the tumblers which are included!

The ignition lockset was a great improvement to the one that kept falling out!!! The instructions that came with the unit were unclear; However, after watching the U-Tube video instructions, everything was made clear. It only took 10 minutes to watch the video and only 5 minutes to install the unit!!!

This represented the most economical way to replace my ignition cylinder while maintaining my anti-theft system in my vehicle. Not having to replace my transponder keys was a huge relief.

The video on the dorman site showed me how to easily re-key the cylinder to my old key. The hardest part was trying to get the old cylinder into the "run" position. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Very easy to install, most people have key fobs that they use to get into the vehicle, so it really doesn't matter if the ignition key doesn't work on the doors. No programing needed. Take out the old, put in the new and it's ready to go!

My fiancé lost my only key to out 2000 jeep grand Cherokee. After breaking in the jeep with a coat hanger(fun) I disconnected the batterie because the alarm was going off. After replacing the ignition when I start the vehicle it runs for about 5 seconds and shuts off. I thought it was with alarm so I called a dealer. They said that the ignition and keys have codes in them and not to use this ignition because it will lock my motor.
