It did not fix my problem but my key turns freely and doesn't get stuck in the ignition cylinder any longer. Just be careful not to break the actuator rod that goes inside of the switch.

Comments about BWD Ignition Starter Switch:

The part isn't as easy to access on the steering wheel. I think it has been the issue on my van for the past year but since I continued to bang the key inside the lock cylinder...I think I have to change it as well. The part is fine. Just remember to disconnect the black negative battery cable and use a light to help guide the metal lock cylinder into the starter switch. I hope this helps.

When I turn to start my car everything is fine but the ignition, power receptable, horn, fuel, start(all one fuse) blows. This only happens when I try to start my car. Does this mean I need the key ignition switch?

                      A:

The ignition starter switch may be the possible cause of the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

intermitten problem.... Sometimes when I start my van it will run for about 5 seconds then quit. I notice that when this is happening when i turn the key to start the vehicle or run position none of the gauges move. Sometimes if I do the "Fonzi" and get pe off and hit the dashboard it fixes the problem. BUT sometimes if I just leave it alone for a bit it fixes itself.... Thinking it might be the ignition/starter switch??? ANY IDEAS

Sorry, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.

Where is this switch located on a 1999 chrysler cirrus 2.5? Also trying to narrow down the problem--ignition fuse keeps blowing. Any advise would be helpful...Thanks!

                      A:

The ignition starter switch on your 1999 chrysler cirrus 2.5 is located just underneath the turn signal multi function switch on the left hand side of the steering column. A short in the wiring system may cause the ignition fuse to blow.

Is this switch located within the column or outside? I know on some vehicles it was under the dash on top of the column.

It is located on the side of the steering wheel. You have to remove the plastic covering including the black cover underneath the dashboard.

It could be the neutral saftey switch or the starter relay.
