Comments about BWD Throttle Position Sensor:
Product fits perfectly, appears to be identical to factory part, and functions well. Caution to Ranger owners; some Rangers have this sensor attached to the throttle body with phillips-head self-tapping screws. The original screws can be very difficult to remove, and surprisingly tough to re-install; consider switching to a self-tapping hex or Torx head screw in the same size to ease removal and installation.

Q:
How do I install this on my 2000 ford contour?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
For installing this BWD Throttle Position Sensor - part# EC3171, open the hood of your Ford Contour. Locate the throttle position sensor. The sensor is near the engine side of the air intake hose, connected to the side of throttle body. It's made mostly of plastic and is held on by about four bolts or screws. Remove the bolts or screws from the throttle position sensor using either a ratchet and socket or a screwdriver. Unhook the wiring harness from the sensor by pressing the locking button on the harness and pulling it out. Remove the sensor by pulling it from the throttle body. Verify the new sensor matches the old sensor by checking the harness connection and the side that connects to the throttle body. Place the sensor on the throttle body, making certain it seats flush on the throttle body. Tighten the screws or bolts using a screwdriver or a ratchet and socket. Connect the sensor wire by pressing the male harness into the female end of the sensor until it clicks and locks. Start the vehicle and test drive it to verify the vehicle seems to be operating properly. Pay special attention to how the transmission shifts at low RPMs. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.Q:

My truck cuts out from time to wont idel and then i stops and run fine what all can cause this problem in my 02 ford sport trac dose this part cause this problem1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It could be your throttle position sensor, idle air control valve, and other sensors.Q:
does this sensor when it is bad make the car idle to high1 answer
A:
It can usualy it will not. The most likely cause is going to be the idle air control valve. What the tps does is measure how far open the throtle blades are open and tells the pcm to add more fuel or lower the amount of fuel.
