1999 Ford Explorer. Did not work after installation. Wire harness voltage tested O.K. Swapped it with another from a different parts supplier and it worked.

Comments about BWD Coolant Temperature Sensor:

This part isn't compatible with my 1997 Ford Explorer. The 1st one was a non working part, the second one didn't work either. The 3rd one I got somewhere else and it worked fine. Don't waste your time or money. Chances are, it won't work for your vehicle, or will be a faulty part.

This part is incompatable with my 97 f150 4.2, I installed the part and, it did not work, I then bought the part from a competitor for ([$]) half the price you charged, the part also had lock-tite inbeded in the tread to insure a tight fit, yours did not, after installing the part, it worked perfectly with no leaks. The part I bought from you guys was not the exact to the part I replaced, the part I bought form your competitor was identical to the oe part I replaced.

                      A:

The coolant temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature of the engine coolant of an internal combustion engine. The readings from this sensor are then fed back to the Engine control unit (ECU). This data from the sensor is then used to adjust the fuel injection and ignition timing. The data may also be used to provide readings for a coolant temperature gauge on the dash.

Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator to the engine on your Ford F150, where it ends is at the thermostat housing. Generally, Ford puts them within six inches of that location.
