Pull the fuse for the fuel pump. Start the car and let it run until it stalls. The fuel line is now depressurized. Wear Safety glasses and keep your mouth shut, as a little fuel will spill. Don't be afraid, this is fairly easy and your car will thank you!

Comments about Fram In-Line Fuel Filter:

The filter is easy to find and take off but getting it back on takes a special tool to put back on easily. I knew about that before hand so i had a friend who is a mechanic stick it on with no problem at all. I would recommend fram a majority of the time and this fuel filter is no different

after 25,000 miles i seen feul on my driveway and smelled gas, i thought my tank was leaking or i had a feul line leaking, well when i crawled under the thing to take a look....it was this piece of [*] feul filter that was leaking, replaced it with a napa gold and no longer have to worry about a cheap feul filter failing so quick!

its a quality fuel filter. Fram makes good stuff... only problem was with my car, not the filter. the old filter was pretty rusted in the mount. and I had to wrestle it out. new one fit in still.
bottom line, a filter good enough for most any daily driver.

The 2006 Ford Focus comes with a in-line fuel filter(DOHC Engine). Crawl under the very rear of the Focus and locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter is located between the gas tank and the rear suspension. The fuel filter will be a round, silver canister with a fuel line coming out of each end.

I believe that it should be located along the fuel rail.

You have to get a disconect tool that slides over the line to relieve the springs that are holding onto the fuel filter. Similar to the AC line. See http://www.amazon.com/KD-Tools-3321-Quick-Disconnect/dp/B0002SRD32/ref=pd_sim_dbs_auto_5
