      • Q:

I have a 2003 Mercury Sable. Fuse box under dash, limited space to work, little spacing between relays, trying to remove blower motor relay. Is there a tool to pull these things with? It has a real tight fit. Thank You
Asked on 8/5/2012 by Sunshine from Old Town, Fl.

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

The blower motor resistor on your 2003 Mercury Sable should be located under the passenger side dash next to or on top of the blower motor. You would need set of ¼-inch sockets, ¼-inch ratchet and ¼-inch short extension. Remove the bottom cover of the dash under the glove compartment using a 7mm socket and ratchet. Pull the carpet back from the firewall straight under the glove compartment to give more clearance to get your hands in underneath the blower motor resister. Remove the electrical connector on the blower motor resister. The electrical connector is located to the left and just behind the blower motor. It is inserted straight up and is on an approximately 1½ by 3-inch flat hardboard plate. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

There are two fuse boxes inside of your Mountaineer, the first is when you open the drivers door. it is on the left side of the steering wheel in between the door and the dash. you have to have the door open to access it. The second is under the hood. you have to open the hood and it will be towards the back on the drivers side. it should be on top. it is a black box. The Air Conditioning Relay should be located in this box. • Q:

My blower only works on high. I replaced the resistor and it worked for a few days then went back to working only on high. Could it be caused by the relay?

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

The relay could possibly be the problem. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.

          A:

This Factory Air Relay - part# 35928 should fix your problem as it has controls with A/C, Blower Motor, Radiator Fan and Compressor. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

My uncle's 1998 Dodge Grand Carevan SE. Will this relay make the fans work? ... Also where is it located, the guy at our store didn't know

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Remove the air intake resonator box with the air intake tube to the throttle body as an assembly. Remove the air cleaner assembly below for access to the relay. The relay is located by secured to the driver side of the body by two 8mm bolts. Changing this relay may make the fan work. • Q:

How do you know if the relay is bad and not causing the fan to work?
        Asked on 2/27/2012 by Anonymous

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

With the engine running, and the A/C controls switched to max cooling, test the remaining two wires for power and ground. If power is not found on one of the two smaller wires, check the fuses. If ground is not found on the remaining small diameter wire, the indication is a control problem. Possible causes are low refrigerant, a faulty pressure switch, a faulty control switch or a faulty computer. If power and ground are found here, move to the next step. With the engine running, and the A/C controls in the max cooling positions, test for power at the compressor clutch electrical connector. If power is not found at the clutch, the relay is faulty. If power is found, suspect a bad ground, or a defective compressor clutch.
