I have a built custom turbocharged 3.9L GM 60 degree V6 with high compression 11:1. I had a problem with spark blowout with OE AC plugs & NGK TR6 Irridium plugs even when gapped to .022 that couldn't light off the mixture at 5psi of boost. The Copper plugs lit off the same mixture to 10 psi at .030 gap and at .022 have yet to blow out up to 13.5 psi so far. Copper plugs are said to be best for combatting spark blowout & I am convinced that is the case. Initially I did not know I had a spark blowout problem, the motor would fall flat sometimes under boost and smut on the rear bumper made me think it was a tuning problem until one day the motor popped under boost and that clued me in. Understand that high compression along with cool air inlet temps increases resistance in the spark gap and that a narrow gap provides more amps to the plug gap which helps favor ignition, a wide gap is cooler and requires more voltage to fire and is more susceptible to blowout under boost.
