This product is terrible. I tried to use it. All the solvent weld was used up with just the halves and there are Three other parts that need it. Halves don't go together well in the limited space (Oh Yeah, can't get grease on the seam in an area that has grease all over). Not fun. after the hour to wait. I gave it an hour and a half. When I tried to pull the boot over the axle joint the boot separated. NOW WHAT? Just buy the axle and don't mess with the poor excuse of a repair product. Worst experience yet with self help products.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Outer:
A total waste of time and money. Could have pulled hub and installed a REAL boot with much less trouble. The instructions are vague at best. The quality of the product is nil. Not enough glue supplied in the kit. Used pvc glue to install the end bushing. The clamps are a real pain to install in such tight quarters. Instructions say to not get grease on the boot. The whole purpose of the boot is to keep the grease in the CV joint so how do you NOT get grease on the boot? It comes with a packet of grease to repack the CV joint. No matter how much I cleaned area with brake cleaner grease still got on boot. There is no way not to get grease on it in such tight confines. Had to clean boot to try and glue it.Does not fit my 1999 Accord well even though Advance website says it fits this car. I am sure it will fall off by tomorrow. Don't waste your time or money on this junk.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Outer:
The small metal band broke before getting tight enough to hold--replaced it with a regular worm drive hose clamp and it works great. This kit is more rigid than others, seems like it will hold up better. To avoid grease, I glued the two pieces together further up the axle and let it sit for an hour before sliding it down and clamping it. This way it didn't come into any contact with the grease.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Outer:
So if you have to replace the boot, and taking off the axle isn't an option, this is not a bad way to go. I mean my boot was chewed up completely, so anything was an improvement. Including a wrong sized boot meant for a different car.
As a con though, getting this thing assembled in that tight spot isn't that easy. And trying to keep greese out of the glue when the axle is bassically MADE of greese...well good luck.
Will it hold long term? We'll see. But I'm glad I made the purchase when the alternative on my car was replacing the whole axle.

Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Outer:
Do not get this part. If you must, then get the one that is bolt together. If you get grease (and you will) in the area where the liquid weld should go, it will not hold. You will have to rip it apart and clean it up then superglue it back together. Do not recommend this part to anyone at anytime.

Complete and total junk from India.
The identical product is sold by Rabestos and Dorman. Obviously they want the one time sale and then leave the parts store with an angry customer. Today MBA's buy this stuff, put it into the system, and don't give a hoot if it is any good. Once the sales drop to zero they pull it.
There should be a law against this type of fraud.

THIS PRODUCT IS JUST PLAIN JUNK! IF I COULD GIVE IT A 0 RATING I WOULD. THE WEBSITE SAYS IT WILL FIT MY 1997 DODGE DAKOTA SO I WENT TO THE CLOSEST STORE IN MYRTLE BEACH AND HAD THE GUY DOUBLE CHECK, HE LOOKED IT UP AND TWICE I WAS TOLD IT WOULD FIT. SO I WENT AHEAD AND BOUGHT IT. AFTER WAITING THE FIRST HOUR FOR THE ONE SIDE TO BOND I ATTEMPTED TO PUT AROUND MY AXLE. THE "WELD" BROKE AND I HAD TO RE-WELD IT AND WAIT ANOTHER HOUR(MEANWHILE I RAN OUT OF CEMENT THAT WAS PROVIDED) THEIRS ANOTHER TRIP TO THE STORE FOR SOME EPOXY. AFTER I GOT IT TO WORK (LEFT IT TO DRY WELL OVER NIGHT) I TRIED TO PULL LARGE END OVER MY HUB AS INSTRUCTED TO, WILL NOT FIT! SO AFTER ABOUT 4 HOURS OF WORKING ON IT AND A DAY WITH MY TRUCK STUCK ON A JACK I'M REQUIRED TO GO BACK TO THE STORE AND TRY TO RETURN IT AND GET THE OE PRODUCT! PLEASE DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND BUY THE REAL ONE AND TAKE A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TO REMOVE THE HUB TO INSTALL. YOU WILL SAVE YOURSELVES A LOT OF AGGRAVATION

Q:
Store did not have the installation instructions for this part.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
With respect to your inquiry on the Dorman - OE Solutions C.V. Joint Solvent Welded Split Boot Kit Outer - Part No. 614-632, there is no need to pull the axle out. You will just have to remove the old boot and install this split boot kit. The glue-together seam must be perfectly clean when the glue is applied for a good bond. A small speck of dirt or any grease on either surface will weaken the seam and may cause it to fail. The boot must be left undisturbed for up to an hour while the adhesive cures. Otherwise the seam will not hold. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.Q:

A:
Yes, but you'll spend a lot of time cleaning the work area to prep it. Then you'll spend a lot of time keeping it clean and waiting for the glue to set. Make sure you dry fit it before proceeding. Things don't fit like they should disassembled. I glued the O ring to the boot thinking I needed it.CUSTOMER CARE
