Comments about Castrol Domestic Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 qt.):
This is an Excellent ATF that meets and/or exceeds Dexron 3 standards. Also the manufacturer, Castrol, has one of the best quality blends available. I used it for re-filling my Power Steering system (reservoir) in my 95 Geo Prizm. This Dexron 3 based ATF was ideal for me and I love the fact that this has the recognized Amber/Red color, very nice.
I slowly started filling my reservoir, turning on the car for a few minutes in between each fill, letting the fluid seep through the power-steering hoses, and then repeating the process until the system was filled to the proper level as stated in the car manual. The process took about 7 turns (fills) and used about half the bottle.
The difference was immediate. Before my car had very tight steering that kept getting stuck when turning, very dangerous when parking, etc. Not to mention the horrible, loud whining/squealing noise that was always there, especially when the steering wheel was turned all the way to the right or left.
Anyhow, after using the fluid, the effect was immediate and the noise was pretty-much completely gone (atleast 50X less) and the tightness vanished also (atleast 25X less). Seriously, it was a world of difference.
The only minor con I have is not with the ATF itself but rather with the bottle it is in. I wish the pitch black bottle had a transparent line with a measurement indicator, so that we can see hew much fluid was used and/or left. Not a huge deal but would make it much more convenient. If your application calls for exact levels of fluid, then I would recommend that you pour the fluid in to another container with a measurement indicator. using a funnel will help also. Just a side note --- Don't use this fluid in applications calling for Dexron VI, Mercon V, Mercon SP, or Type F --- as stated on the back of the bottle.
Regardless, I am super pleased with this Castrol ATF and hope it will always be carried by Advance Auto Parts. If you need an awesome ATF that meets Dexron 3 standards for transmission and/or power-steering applications --- then don't even bother buying anything else besides this.
P.S. I had a lot of time when I wrote this, so if you read it all, then thanks for reading and good luck! :)
