Take a read at [@] to find out why any bulb with a film over them is bad. They filter out the light, and the blue hue appears to be brighter, but in reality it isn't. In order to compensate for this filter they have to push more out of the light, therefore shortening its life. I bought a set of these bulbs back in October, and they just died on me in early May. I would not recommend them at all, you're simply paying for marketing and brainwashed employees!

Comments about Sylvania SilverStar TWIN Halogen Headlight:
I had both headlights replaced by a mechanic using these Silverstar bulbs. One died in 45 days and the other died in 4.5 months (and I only drive about 6k miles per year). I do like the brightness of these bulbs, and I knew that the increased brightness would mean a shorter lifespan than the OEM bulbs, but come on, at least last a year or something. And not only is it annoying to have to keep buying bulbs, but to keep having to waste my time to get these replaced is really enough reason to not buy these again. I complained to the manufacturer after the first bulb died and they sent me a replacement pack, which are now being used since both of the originals died already. But once these new ones die, I will be going back to the OEM bulbs.

Comments about Sylvania SilverStar TWIN Halogen Headlight:
So this is no fault of the bulb's, but these were incredibly difficult to have installed on my 2002 Acura RSX; I had to pay someone to install them after trying myself (they had to remove my steering column, car battery, and windshield fluid container just to get access).
That aside, I *THOUGHT* these were great. I got a good deal on them which nearly dropped the price by half. After finally getting them installed, the brightness was up on my little Acura and they gave off a (slightly blue) very bright light. I thought they were great!
Well, that was just barely over 2 months ago when I purchased/installed them. Now? The driver-side headlight is back out. I work an 8-5 schedule and don't drive with headlights very often. Why have these burned out in less than 2 1/2 months? I wish I could get a refund, but these are listed as only having a 30-day warranty! BUYER BEWARE.

I always drive with my lights on. Purchased and installed set in Nov 2011. One bulb has burned out. I'm sure they would last longer, if I didn't use them as "always on."

Comments about Sylvania SilverStar TWIN Halogen Headlight:
Who would believe any company would foolishly sell a product with a lifespan so short, that it would ruin the credibility and goodwill of the company's good name. This is such a product. While it appears to provide a brighter, more intense light, I can't imagine why the company which produced this product would want to make customers unhappy. I would expect headlights to last for at least 3 years, not 6 months. Reputation is everything in the consumer products business. Sylvania is taking us for chumps.

I bought this product on October 4, 2009 to replace my headlights which had burnt out. In April 2010 (6 months) one of my headlights has already burnt out. I would think that a bulb this good and expensive that it would last longer. What can I do to have this bulb replaced either by the store or by some sort of warranty?2 answers

You can't do anything really, other than writing or calling the company and complaining. That "might" get you somewhere. Otherwise they are only covered under a 3 month warranty.CUSTOMER CARE
