ACI 172435 Windshield Washer Pump (Automotive)
Bought the exact number 172435 from advanced auto parts. Looks exactly like the one out of my 2005 Yukon. What a job to replace. Did it three times only to find the electrical plug IS NOT compatible!!!! There needs to be included a plug adapter to make this pump motor socket compatible. Unbelievable.I managed to cannibalize the old motor and socket to fit the new lower pump assembly. Shame on ACI Company.
Instructions 2005 GMC Yukon
Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right.
Remove the retainer pins from the left front fender well starting towards the front of the Tahoe and working your way back. Pry them out with a screwdriver--some retainer pins may have a small Phillips-head center pin that unscrews, and then a flathead screwdriver can be used to pry them out. Remove enough of the pins until you can gain access to the bottom end of the windshield washer tank.
Remove the negative (black cable) battery terminal from the battery using an 8 mm hand wrench. Remove the positive (red cable) battery terminal from the battery.
Locate the battery hold-down wedge and remove the retaining bolt using the ratchet, the extension and a 13 mm socket. Remove the bolt and then remove the hold-down wedge.
Remove the battery.Remove the battery tray retaining bolts. Remove the tray.
Remove the upper tank retaining bolt located just below the top of the tank.
Locate the lower tank retaining bolt, and remove it.
Unplug the two wire harness connections from the front washer pump located on the front of the tank and from the rear washer pump located on the back of the tank.
Remove the two bottom washer hoses located near each respective pump.
Remove the tank through the fender well. Remove the washer pumps from the old tank and install them onto the new tank. Place the new tank assembly into place from under the fender well. Reinstall by reversing the procedure. When reconnecting the battery, connect the positive (red cable) battery terminal first and the negative (black cable) battery terminal last.

I bought this to replace the broken washer fluid pump in my Aztek. Took a total of two minutes to install and no tools were needed. Everything fit where it should and worked immediately after.

Comments about ACI Windshield Washer Pump:

I purchssed this pump to replace the original one in my 1995 Olds 88 LSS. Your web site said it was an "Exact Fit" for my model car but it had a different electrical terminal from the original. The instructions sheet in the package said if the electrical connection was different to used the "enclosed splice,"except there was no enclosed splice. I returned the pump for a refund. A check of the reviews on your website showed other customers had the exact same complaint.

Nice to get a part that goes right in replacing the original. Too bad that it is so hard to get to the pump on the Chevy 2500. Had to pull one battery and tray and the wheel liner to get to the washer tank. Quite an exercise.

Comments about ACI Windshield Washer Pump:

Although the website says this is an "exact fit" for a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette van, it is NOT. In fact, it doesn't fit at all. As other reviewers have indicated, the OEM connector from the vehicle wire harness does not fit into the connector on this pump.

I tried swapping the connector end of the pump housing but that won't work, either because the motor inside is shorter than the OEM pump motor. In other words, this part didn't fit the application and there's no way to make it work unless you want to do some semi-serious plastic fabrication work.

However, in the process of messing with this part, I discovered that you can simply pull the original pump housing apart, pull the motor out and repair the motor. It appeared on my repair that the rubber seal simply let some water into the motor housing and the motor rusted/froze up. I broke it loose, lubed it, put some O-ring sealant around the rubber seal and reinstalled the old pump and it works great.

Also, I'd recommend removing the OEM filter from the washer fluid line and using a vacuum line fitting to reconnect the hose. The filters don't really help, may stop the pump from working, and cost $15.00 to replace from GM.

I will give AZ credit - they let me return the part and gave me my money back.

It depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For installation, I would recommend purchasing a repair manual.

For 2004 Alero it's hard to do. There are problems getting to screws and push plugs while doing the following steps.
                              1. Turn and leave the front wheels hard left to make work room.
                              2. Remove the fender liner over the left front wheel.(Plastic plugs and screws)
                              3. Remove the 3 screws holding the lower front fender to the upper front fender.
                              4. Remove the left front headlight and cable bracket.(screws and latches)
                              5. Remove the air intake duct under the fender.(2 nuts)
                              6. Remove 3 screws attaching reservoir. Lower the reservoir and unplug the wire harness and outlet tube to remove it.
                              7. Pull the old pump and grommet out of the reservoir.
                              8. Reverse removal steps to reinstall.
