The product was fine. I was disappointed that the parts were not ready when I arrived. They had two days to get them pulled and nothing was pulled when I arrived.

I was replacing the intake gasket on a 1999 Buick Century. Since I was already into the water system I replaced the thermostat as part of the job. Looked and worked like OEM.

Comments about Stant Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

Thermostats should be easy to replace and although some are I have never run across any of them. The Japanese engineers understand that dissimilar metals often corrode and because of that they use either stainless or cadmium bolts and nuts in these locations. American car companies don't get it. They'd rather have you break the bolts and have to bring your car in for repair. That would be great if the thermostats lasted forever but that is not the case, especially after the introduction of the pink Kool-Aid anti-freeze that American auto manufacturers have forced you to dump into your cars which turns to sludge after twenty thousand or so miles. Comments about Stant Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

I'm sure the thermostat is great, but I couldn't install it because it probably would have been a four hour job. I had to change the water pump and figured I would change the thermostat and flush the system at the same time. Wrong. After checking it out visually and then in Haynes it turns out to remove the thermostat in a 2000 Pontiac Montana you have to remove the exhaust crossover pipe. Which means probably busting rusted bolts on the heat covers and the exhaust manifolds. No thanks. I'm taking the thermostat back. Hard to believe GM would make disassembly of the exhaust system necessary just to change a thermostat.

What is the main difference in the temperatures of the thermostats? Getting ready to change the thermostat in 1999 Chevy Lumina and don't know what temperature thermostat to use. Live in Upper Michigan where the snow is getting ready to fall. Will that make a difference?
