  • Q:

engine code po171 left bank lean #1. Would a flat line senser on warmup suggest the oxygen senser failed.

      A:

With reference to your inquiry on the ACDelco Heated Oxygen Sensor - part# AFS105, P0171 OBD-II trouble code means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 has detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. The P0171 is one of the more common trouble codes. This code is triggered by the first downstream (front) O2 sensor. The sensor provides a reading of the air:fuel ratio leaving the engine's cylinders, and the vehicles powertrain/engine control module (PCM/ECM) uses that reading and adjusts to keep the engine running at that optimum ratio of 14.7:1. If something is not right and the PCM cannot maintain the 14.7:1 ratio, but rather there is too much air, it triggers this code. A:

This ACDelco Heated Oxygen Sensor - part# AFS105 are mounted in the exhaust system where they can monitor the oxygen content of the exhaust gas stream. The oxygen present in the exhaust gas reacts with the sensor to produce a voltage output. This voltage should constantly fluctuate from approximately 100 mV or high oxygen content--lean mixture, to 900 mV or low oxygen content--rich mixture. The VCM calculates what fuel mixture command to give to the injectors based upon voltage output of the oxygen sensor. Lean mixture--low HO2S voltage equals rich command and rich mixture--high HO2S voltage equals lean command. The heated oxygen sensor voltage can be monitored with a scan tool. This Heated Oxygen Sensor fits your 1996 Chevrolet K1500. For any further assistance, please call us at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and we would be more than happy to assist you.

  • Q:

Does it matter if oxygen sensors are warm or cold when removing from
    a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4X4?

      A:

Yes, this part ACDelco Heated Oxygen Sensor, part number AFS105 manufactured by ACDelco fits your 2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4X4 .
While removing old Oxygen Sensor, you can either remove them when cold or you can just warm up the manifold a little ( ie; run engine for 1-2 minutes only so that it gets only Warm and not Hot) to help in removal of the old Oxygen Sensor, also in addition to the above you can use PB Blaster to loosen the rusted screws to help you in removal of old Oxygen Sensor, but by performing Do It Yourself work, care should be taken to avoid any damage.

      A:

Check if the vehicle is OBD-1, or OBD-2. If it's OBD-1, there will be 2 Oxygen sensors, one in front of the catalytic converter, and one at the rear of it. If it is OBD-2, there will be four sensors. There will be three on the "Y" pipe from the manifolds, and one before and after the catalytic converter.
