    I have a 1998 gmc jimmy. 4 wheel drive.v- 6cyld. is this evaporater core something that is easy to change? is it located in the heater box on the passenger side of the firewall, and do you have to take parts of the dash out to replace? I do a lot of my own repairs, such as brakes, plugs, oil changes, standard maintenance, but have never work on air before.

      yes you do and since you have heater box and such out i recommend you change heater core also, takes about 2 hours tops. OH and walmart will evacuate any 134 u have inside and pay u for it.

      I recommend getting a repair manual for your vehicle, it should should be able to provide you more help with replacing the evaporator core.

    is this part a do it yourself project? Is this part housed in the heater core box on the passenger side firewall? Do you have to take any of the dash out to replace this coil?
