Q:
I had a problem years ago with gapping a platinum plug with a steel feeler gauge. The plugs only lasted about 1500 miles. Is this an issue? Are there alternative feeler gauges to avoid this problem?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Normally the Platinum spark plugs (Autolite Double Platinum Spark Plug - Part No. APP606) are preset and need not be gapped. Normal spark plugs can be easily gapped with a steel feeler gauge but not the platinum spark plugs. I would recommend that you go with a preset platinum spark plug. For further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and provide your vehicle information. One of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.Q:
Do the spark plugs come pregaped? I was told on check out they were. I have installed them and am having second thoughts because I do not find in the specifications a gap setting. If the gap was already set, what was the gap.2 answers
