The orifice tube could be located at the EVAPORATOR INLET, mid way between the EVAPORATOR and the CONDENSER (in-line) or at the CONDENSER OUTLET.

I recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to locate, repair or replace specific parts.

        • Q:

I am replacing the A/C evaporator coil, so I have a new tube to install the orifice tube into, but the orifice tube only goes in about halfway. Is there a trick to seating the orifice tube all the way in?

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

First, we will have to confirm whether you have ordered the correct one for your vehicle model. If it is the correct one, the size of the tube will be same as the original and it would fit perfectly.

It goes in the lower tube of the evaporator. Open the fitting right up next to the blower box at the bottom of box. It is inserted in the metal tubing.

            A:

It will be located inside the A/C lines. If you follow the A/C lines, you should notice a small crimp in the line. That small crimp is where the orifice tube is.

Answered on 6/16/2010 by Mike from AAP
          • A:

The orifice tube is on the smaller diameter "high pressure" line going to the evaporator core. It has a union fitting ahead of it. It may be difficult to remove. Pull straight out and try not to twist. If it breaks off inside, you may not be able to get the piece out.
