You really get what you pay for when it comes to oil filters. This one is much larger than some of the cheaper filters out there so you get a much larger filter surface area to remove contaminants from your oil.

You can't judge a filter by its cover, but you can by its weight. More weight = more filtering media. This one would knock somebody out if you knocked them in the head with it, but that is not a recommended use.

I purchased a couple of Bosch Distance Plus oil filters due to combination of Advance Auto Parts coupon discount and rebate. I have several brands of oil filters in stock for my car/van. I compared tham and noticed Bosch Distance plus is probably comes from same manufacture which makes Purolator/PureOne. The filter media is different since Bosch Distance plus claim to filtered up to 30 grams of dirt vs. 13 grams on the PureOne. The house casing, plate, seal are pretty much identical. We all know Purolator PureOne makes decent oil filter. I expect Bosch Distance Plus performs the same or better. The only con thing is the price. The Bosch Distance Plus costs twice as much as PureOne. I wouldn't buy this unless combine with Mobil 1 extended Performance synthetic oil (15K miles)to justify the cost.
For your information, the Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil filter, Royal Purple oil filter and K&N oil filter are from same oil filter manufacture. The filter media may be different between the 3. They are all decent oil filters.

I worked in oil/lube shops for a couple of years. I never recommended going longer than 5,000-6,000 miles on an oil change, no matter what oil was being used because I saw what the oil was like when people came in for oil changes after going longer than that. You may be able to get away going that long on each oil change with this oil and filter combination, but also be aware that warranties can be voided if the proper maintanance schedule is not followed.Answered on 5/4/2010 by Mike from AAP
