The PCV valve is one half of the crankcase ventilation system - the other half is the breather filter. The breather flows clean air into the crankcase through a hose on your air filter and the PCV valve lets dirty air and crankcase gases out. These dirty gases and air get sent through the engine to be re-burned for clean emissions. An old PCV valve can cause rough engine idle, blown oil seals, fouled air filter and fuel system, fumes in the passenger compartment, excessive engine part wear, and shorter oil life. Although the PCV is not a pollution control valve, a worn out PCV valve can contribute to air pollution. So, it’s important to change your PCV valve for the safety of your vehicle - and the environment!

I hesitate to give the product a bad review because I really don't know how well it works since I was unable to install it. This PCV valve was to replace the factory installed item. The valve did not fit. The hose barb on the end of the valve is a smaller diameter than the one being replaced and was loose and sloppy in the hose. I did not want to bandaid the install with a clamp. It was advertised as "yes it fits your vehicle" and shouldn't need extra items to make it work. The item is being returned to the store where purchased. You may not have any operational problems with this valve and you may also not mind putting a clamp on the hose to install it, I just figured it didn't live up to the expectations installation wise.
