This thing isn't as quiet as the stock pump - if you don't mind the humming noise then this pump will work fine. Also, the rubber seal that fits on the bottom of the pump does not fit into the assembly very well - best to use the old one if possible. If i had to do it over again, i would spend the extra $15-$20 and buy the better brand!!

The click-n-pull type order we placed was only marred by the fact that the store that supposedly had it did not have one on the shelf. We were able to drive to the next nearest location, which just happens to be the warehouse, and get it so all was good but I had to listen to my husband complain even though we saved 20%.

Yep, it's a honker. At least in a quiet car, it's noticeably louder than OEM. Still, I had to go with it, because Advance doesn't seem to stock any of the other listed models, just this bottom-of-barrel unit, without ordering and waiting at least a day.

For replacing this Airtex Electric Fuel Pump -part# E8229 on your 2005 Hyundai Sonata GLS, You have to lift the rear seat and remove a blanking panel then you can disconnect the fuel lines and wiring. Remove the screws from the pump unit then remove the pump and split so you can replace the filter, be sure to replace the seals. You would need to use strainer with this fuel pump for validating warranty. Steps to replace the fuel pump: Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a wrench. Take out the rear seat cushion by pulling the seat stopper out and lifting the lower cushion up. You can now remove the inspection cover on the passenger side of the vehicle. Disconnect the fuel lines and unplug the fuel pump's electrical harness. Remove the locking ring on the fuel pump assembly with a wrench if your vehicle has all wheel drive. Remove the fuel pump from the fuel tank. Install the new fuel pump into the fuel tank using the items included in the kit. Tighten the locking ring over the fuel pump if your vehicle has all wheel drive. Close the inspection cover and connect the fuel hose and electrical harness. Replace the rear seat and negative battery cable.
