Comments about BWD Idle Air Control Valve:
Looked this part up through selecting my McLaren-version '90 Grand Prix at the homepage, then by searching for Idle Air Control Valve. This part said it would fit, bought it, tried to put it on the throttle body, but the screw locations on the new part are offset, unlike the screw positions on my throttle body.

Comments about BWD Idle Air Control Valve:
Installed easily. Rated three stars only because I cannot yet tell if it actually works as it didn't fix or resolve my car's problem....still trying to figure that out...

Yes, a bad Idle Air Control Valve will cause high idle in highway drive.Q:
94 Pontiac Gran Prix will start (sometimes difficult) but cuts off if removing foot from Gas and when attempting to place in drive, it has not been driven much in the past few months but did start to hesitate / miss while driving down the road a few months ago. Sound like IAC & where is IAC located on this vehicle?2 answers
A:
It's NOT located on the engine block, like Vincent said! The idle air control motor/valve (IAC) is typically located on the throttle body just before the upper intake manifold. It's often near the throttle postion sensor (TPS). On a 3.1L V-6 GM engine, for example, it's located just above the TPS on the top/rear side of the throttle body, facing the firewall of the car. There are 2 star (Torx) screws, (should be T-20 size driver) that hold it to the throttle body and one 4-wire weatherpack connector. Be sure there isn't carbon buildup inside the port where the IAC pintle valve seats. If so, clean it out with come carb cleaner and a pipe cleaner or a soft brass wire brush. If the IAC port is really gunked up, you many need to remove the throttle body (not terribly difficult) and use a screwdriver to carefully dig out/remove the built up contamination. Another thing to consider is to make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. Vacuum leaks often account for a lot of drivability issues.CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The IAC valve should be located on the front of the engine just left of center. It has a set of wires plugged into it and it has two star head nuts holding it to the engine block.Q:
I have a 1993 Buick Regal with a 3.1 and the idle in it is TERRIBLE! It always jumps around after warming up and has stalled many times before we got the engine fuel lines etc all cleaned. It still idles bad and was wondering it this is what it is. Almost always when idling it will jump around and feel like its going to stop.1 answer

will this iac valve cause my car to idle bad a stops, stall or make it hard to start or not start for a while after turning off and wanting to start again in about 5 minutes?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, a bad idle control valve can cause intermittent stalling.Q:
will this cause my car to die when i turn on the ac?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, a bad IAC would stall the motor when the A/C turned on. The RPM's would Fluctuate from 1500 to 500 with the A/C off.Q:
If this part is bad will I get a Throttle Position Sensor (Error #22) problem on my ODB engine analyzer? I replaced the TPS and the engine does not rev high upon cranking, but the engine does not idle well. I have the correct voltage from the connecting wire to the TPS. Thanks.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, in the case of a malfunctioning IAC, rapidly shutting the throttle pedal will starve the engine of air, resulting in a stall either while decelerating or after coming to a stop.Q:
Does this part stop the engine RPM from racing fast when at idle?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
An idle air control valve is an electronic motor which is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body.
