I'm happy to help, JoJo! This speed sensor is the Auto Trans Input Shaft Speed Sensor. You also have a wheel speed sensor in your differential (Part No. ABS330), there is also a front left (Part No. ABS1508) and front right (Part No. ABS273) ABS wheel speed sensor and the output speed sensor listed for your automatic transmission (Part No. SN7241). In total there are 5.

Hi Wayne, great question! The vehicle speed sensor is a magnetic inductive pickup that relays information relative to vehicle speed to the computer. Vehicle speed information is used by the computer to control shift timing, line pressure, and TCC apply and release.

      A:

Symptoms of a Bad Vehicle Speed Sensor: Speed Controls: The most noticeable sign of a bad speed sensor is a speedometer or odometer that stops working. Also, you may not be able to set your vehicle to cruise control. Transmission: Hesitation, roughness or sporadic jumps in your vehicle's transmission when you try to shift gears indicates your speed sensor may be the problem. Other Signs: Your vehicle may rumble or idle irregularly when you start it, or it may burn more fuel than normal. Also, your vehicle may lose power suddenly due to wrong signals sent from the speed sensor to the fuel system. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

With reference to your inquiry on the BWD Sensor - Vehicle Speed - Part No. SN7159 the ABS, parking brake and check engine light turning on usually means its time to get your brakes changed. It also happens when you are running low on brake fluid. It might not be low enough to stay on, but when the road gets rough the fluid is moving around enough to trigger your light. Also make sure your E brake is all the off. It might be close enough to the switch that vibration is causing it to make contact flashing your light. If you experience this during heavy braking then you are running low on both fluid and maybe even pads. However I would also suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
