      • Q:

Having problem with our '97 Chrysler T&C 3.8 - It will randomly start but not keep running, usually when engine is cold. Engine starts, runs for 1-2 seconds then stalls out. Sometimes letting the van sit overnight, it will run the next day just fine. I've replaced the Body Control Module (no change) but I read the MAP sensor can cause similar problems -true?

          A:

It may be because of your bad ASD (Auto shut down) relay, alternator, MAF sensor, starter. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to locate and repair or replace specific parts.
