Just bought a distributer pick up assembly for a 93 mercury topaz 4cyl, have head cap off but there is a metal plate in the way is there a way to remove this cap or do you have to take the entire distributer off1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
With reference to the BWD Distributor Pickup Assembly (Part No. ME48P), the metal plate is pressed onto the distributor shaft. To replace the pickup coil you need to remove the distributor. Drive the roll pin out that holds the gear on the shaft. (the dimple on the gear should be on the same side of the shaft as the rotor tip). When you pull the shaft out of the distributor it is the round part held on to the distributor with a small ring or a clip. It has 2 wires that plug into the ignition module.
