Comments about BWD/Intermotor Sensor - Vehicle Speed:
Good fit, working replacement. Kept me from surrendering car (VW Jetta) to a mechanic who'll probably do more damage than good and cost a lot of money doing (or not doing) it. It would be nice to have accurate location or picture of the location of the part - it was hart to find and isolate from other similar parts.
The vehicle speed sensor on your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GL should be located on the top of the transmission. This BWD/Intermotor Sensor - Vehicle Speed - part# S8246 is an exact fit for your vehicle. Q:
Throwing OBDII code PO0715 (Input speed sensor malfunction), transmission will not shift, no gear indication on dashboard. Is this the sensor I need? Is this located near/under the battery tray on the transmission on a 2002 VW Cabrio 2.0L engine?
Yes, it may be vehicle speed sensor. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

Q:
Can you give me the location and directions for replacing this part? I read another person's directions that had to do with a VW Jetta, but my car is a 2001 VW cabrio. Do I still have to drop the tranny a few inches in order to replace this?
A wheel speed sensor can be located at the wheel on the hub, in the differential, or in the transmission. If you could please give us your vehicle info to further research this for you.
