Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions HVA/C Air Door Actuator:

The actuator motor was correct, but the shape of the actuator arm was not. Kind of a pain to find that out after you've got everything pulled apart. This product did not fit my 04 Expedition rear A/C actuator.

        • Q:

Is the actuator shaft a "d" shape or a cross shape? Will this actuator work as the blend (hot and cold) door and the air distribution mode (vent or floor) door?

        • Q:

Is this part hard to replace on an 08 Ranger? I hear different opinions, some say just a few things to remove some say most of the dash, I fear taking "most" of the dash off, I also hear of a special ratchet or tool that makes taking the back screws off easier, please advise, thanks!

            A:

Yes, you need to remove the top of the dash to gain access to the actuator and no special tools are required.

Possibly. Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. We highly recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable shop to have them take a look at it to determine the cause.

I only get hot air out of any position, even with the heater control knob turned down to the lowest setting. I replaced the fan, temp,& position controls, but still only get hot air. Maybe this unit was bad also, but I wanted to know if it may be the blend door actuator or a bad vacuum line. Help!

It could be that the heater core is clogged, heater valve is not working, or the blend doors are not functioning.

its a vaccum leak, just about every ford 97 - 03 had this problem. it should be right outside the firewall on the passenger side. just a little rubber piece of vaccum line will fix that problem for you

        • Q:

Would this be the actuator that controls the flow of air? I mean this will allow the air to blow through the vents instead of the defroster only.
