  • Q:

I have a 93 buick regal custom with the 4T60E trans. Would this solenoid keep it from going into gear? In the description it said its for 1 2 3 4 & TCC what does TCC stand for?

      A:

The transmission control solenoid should be the possible cause of the problem on your Buick Regal Custom. The TCC stands for transmission clutch control solenoid. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette van, it started with the code p1870 now I have to start it 5-6 times to get it to move after it starts moving it shifts up and down the way it is supposed to till I turn it off then I have to start all over again

      A:

P1870 is a "Transmission Slip" fault code. This code usually sets when the torque converter stops locking up. There are several reasons why this may set; each has its own fix. First, you will want to inspect the Torque Converter Solenoid, make sure its working and the top of it isn't cracked or leaking. This will require you to remove the solenoid and apply 12V to it and use air pressure. Next, is the valve body, there is a valve, which regulates how much fluid gets to the converter clutch circuit. When this valve wears out, fluid can't get to the converter and it stops locking up.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Yes, the transmission control solenoid should be the problem. However , I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem

There are several reasons for this it may be cable is not adjusted properly or Low Fluid level or Front pump failure or Wiring/Solenoid problem (Electrical). However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

The transmission solenoid should be located inside the transmission just below the shift linkage.

Possibly. Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. We highly recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable shop to have them take a look at it to determine the cause.
