Comments about BWD Relay:
I found when I changed this part on my 1991 F150 my battery quit going dead overnight.
to test mine, I unkooked the hot wire going to the starter relay and heard things "clicking" off...
Over on the driver side is where this resides, usually under a plastic cover... when I unhooked it, it made the same sounds as unhooking the starter relay.

Q:
I have a 1987 mercury colony park station wagon with a 5.o engine. while driving to work the car will shut off while driving. most times it would start right back up, but a few times I had to use starter fluid to get it running again, the problem became more and more frequent. I replaced the fuel pump as recommended by more then one mechanic. once the new pump was installed the car started right up , after about 15 minutes of running it shut off, but started right back up. as I was driving home the car kept shutting off if I had to stop for a traffic light or stop sign. the only way it wouldn't shut off was if I kept my foot on the gas peddle and brake peddle if I had to slow down or stop. anyone have any idea what would be causing this problem. I would really hate to junk this car because it has been so reliable to me for the last 12 years with no problems other then a water pump . I have been told it could either be the egr valve or the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump relay1 answer

With reference to your inquiry on the BWD Relay - part# R648P, the problem on your Mercury Colony Park - Station Wagon may be with the EGR valve and or even with the fuel pressure regulator. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
