  • Q:

1993 Olds Cutlass Cierra S, 3.3 V6. Starts and runs fine. Occasional rough idle after starting, but smooths out after driving for a mile or so. The problem is that occasionally engine will sputter and cut off when making a slow right turn, as into a parking lot, foot off gas. Fuel pressure regulator problem?

      A:

Yes, if your fuel pressure regulator is bad then you might have to turn the ignition several times to get the engine to start, you might see fuel leaking from your vehicle's tail pipe and your vehicle's exhaust should emit only white smoke, but black smoke will issue from the tail pipe.

What is this part for and will it help with slow idle / bad rev/ bad rpm
    Asked on 6/20/2010 by Anonymous

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

This is a fuel pressure regulator. It regulates the pressure in the fuel system. If this part was bad it would cause slow idle, bad rev, and maybe bad idle.
