  • Q:

what could cause one of the prongs on my motor resistor to burn out and cause the prong to come off? Meaning, having a total of 5 prongs for wires to plug into (one by itself and 4 grouped together), and one of the four that are grouped together is burned off, like someone used a pair of cutters to cut it off.

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis of what would cause the prongs on your resistor to burn.

      A:

This could possibly be the problem. However, with out the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer.

    • A:

Blower motor resistors divert power or ground through resistors to control blower motor speed
When not replaced, blower will either not function or will not run at all speeds.first check to see if the blower motor works before replacing resistor.use a test light to test the blower motor.
