Comments about Bosch Premium Oxygen Sensor with OE SmartLink™:

Before obtaining this sensor kit, I had issues with finding a sensor with the same connector as the old one on my vehicle. This kit comes with great instructions and comes with the appropriate material to splice the old connector to this new sensor.

I did have a slight advantage of already having the appropiate tools and past experience with splicing nonautomotive wiring projects.

Comments about Bosch Premium Oxygen Sensor with OE SmartLink™:

At first, looking at the product, I wasn't sure what to think. After installing... great product application. I had trouble finding a sensor with the correct connector. This product comes with good instructions and material that splices the old connector with this new sensor. I had a slight advantage already being familiar with wire splicing for nonautomotive projects and having neccessary tools available (ex. wire cutters & wire strippers).

                    A:

The common symptoms of a bad oxygen sensor are rough engine idle, engine missing, engine pinging, poor gas mileage, increased vehicle emissions. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.

Sorry, we could not estimate the increase of gas mileage preferably for this Bosch Premium Oxygen Sensor with OE SmartLink™ (Part No. 15729) on your 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee as it is based on driving, load and road condition also. A:

The oxygen sensor is located in the Catalytic converter. Most late model cars have two sensors. There will be one at the front of the catalytic converter, and one at the rear.

It all depends on what sensor you need. Each sensor has a seperate function. To determine the correct sensor for your vehicle, we need you to provide more information.

The sensor after the cat is your downstream sensor. Any thing before the cat is upstream.

In a matter of speaking the O2 sensors on my 94 explorer are in FRONT of the catalytic converter. I figure downstream is "down from the manifold."

Anyway, the sensors should be equal. That is, there are all the same, at least in my vehicle. Now if you take the O2 sensor off, it might have a connection. Now some that you buy have the connector and some don't. Those that don't you have to connect those end wires to your OEM connector now. So make sure you put a GOOD connection between the connector and the end wire of the O2 sensor you buy (If it has one).
