This is the third charger I've purchased.First one for my Harley, four years old.Second one for my wife's Mustang convertible, stored from Halloween to April 1,two years old.Third one one for 87 S10 plow truck, first year of use.I also alternate oldest chargerfrom Harley,to two riding lawnmowers, for the winter, upstate N.Y.Schumacher has alwyays been a trusted name to me.Have had their products for many years with no problems,so I just keep buying more when needed. Not saying there isn't as good a product from a different company,I'm not changing from Schumacher, because I think you get a reliable product for a reasonable price.

Good Manual Charger
Don't leave this connected to your battery all the time. It is a manual charger and will boil a battery dry if left on.

Comments about Schumacher 1-Amp Trickle Charger/Maintainer:
Very useful for atv's, snowmobiles, motorcycles, mowers, anything that you dont use every day. Keeps the batteries fresh so you can start them right up and take off. So much easier being able to leave the leads attached and the battery installed instead of removing the battery to charge it every time you need to.
Comments about Schumacher 1-Amp Trickle Charger/Maintainer:
I bought this for two reasons. I read the negative review about this not being an tender/automatic charger. To me that is good. I lost a $100.00 marine battery because of a failed automatic charger. I dont know how to tell if an automatic charger is working or not. This is a simple one amp charger. I touch the + and - alagator ends and it sparks...So I know it is on. For [$] and useing a 20% off coupon I can keep one as a spare at the cabin. I searched [@], [@], [@] and this was my pick. One thing, Advance may want to change the script as a battery maintainer that implies automatic. This is not an automatic that I can tell. This charges 1 Amp 24/7. That is what I want.

The ad listing says "charger maintainer" but when you get it home and read instructions it says do not leave on battery as it will overcharge and ruin battery. This is NOT a maintainer.

One responder stated that if left on all the time, this "trickle charger" would boil a battery dry; I thought a trickle charger was left on all of the time, that that was the point of a trickle charger. Please respond.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
A trickle charger needs to be unhooked periodically, as it can damage the battery to leave it on all the time. The float charger is meant to be left on as long as you want and will never overcharge the battery. Hope this helps.
